The Police Services Act requires police services to provide five core functions.

1. Crime Prevention

2. Public Order Maintenance

3. Emergency Response

4. Law Enforcement

5. Assistance to victims

Every year in Waterloo Region, hundred of thousands of calls are answered in our Communications Centre and responded to by officers. The details of every call are distinct and unique, but each one falls within at least one of the above five categories.
